Train4Family
Summary of Project
The main aim of the project is to increase awareness of the importance of physical activity among children aged 6-18 by additionally educating family members and by implementing sport activities for children in sport clubs/organizations in each partner country.
Main objectives of Train4Family project are:
- Raising the awareness of the importance of physical activity among children and their families.
- Increasing physical activity levels in children.
- Promoting the European principle of #HealthyLifestyle4All by participation in sport activities and consumption of healthy, plant-based nutrition.
- Increasing the proportion of children that participate in sport activities.
- Educating family members to learn to conduct sport activities with their children.
- Combining sport with ecology/nutrition and educating children on these topics.
Train4Family is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and will be implemented by an international consortium of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Turkey, Italy, Slovenia, and Spain.

Train4Family partners meet in Sofia to plan final steps
From 1–4 October 2025, the Train4Family consortium met in Sofia, Bulgaria, hosted by the Bulgarian Sports Development Association (BSDA). Partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey reviewed pilot evaluation results and project management data, aligned on the final report, and set actions to sustain the educational content and e-learning platform. The meeting reaffirmed our commitment to enabling children with disabilities and their families to be active through adapted sport.
Multiplier Sport Event in Topolšica – Celebrating European Week of Sport 2025
As part of the European Week of Sport 2025, we hosted a vibrant Multiplier Sport Event in Topolšica, Slovenia. The gathering brought together over 40 participants, including sport workers, educators, family members, NGO representatives, and dedicated volunteers.
- The event was an opportunity to share the results of our project, explore future activities, and celebrate the contributions of everyone involved. Children participating in the project proudly received their diplomas, while family members and volunteers were honored with certificates of gratitude for their support.
- A highlight of the day was the demonstration of swimming activities developed within the project, showcasing how families can stay active together.
- We were especially honored by the presence of the Director of the Regional Development Agency, who welcomed participants and expressed strong support for continuing the initiative even after the project’s completion.
- The atmosphere was filled with energy, collaboration, and community spirit, making this event a true celebration of sport, family, and healthy lifestyles.
The event gathered a diverse audience of professors and students from Tuzla, who showed great interest in the project and actively engaged in the discussion.
The session concluded with a shared initiative to develop a follow-up project that will further promote joint sports activities for parents and children, with the aim of enhancing family well-being and healthy lifestyles.
Train4Family Presented at the 30th Summer University in Tuzla on 12th of June 2025
The Train4Family project was proudly presented at the 30th Summer University held in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The presentation was delivered in a hybrid format:
- Gina Škulić (project coordinator, Croatia) and Ricardo Lana (Italy) joined online,
- while Sanja Selimović and Stanko Blatnik (Slovenia) presented on-site.
The event gathered a diverse audience of professors and students from Tuzla, who showed great interest in the project and actively engaged in the discussion.
The session concluded with a shared initiative to develop a follow-up project that will further promote joint sports activities for parents and children, with the aim of enhancing family well-being and healthy lifestyles.
#Train4Family transnational project meeting took place in Murcia, Spain, on May 28–29, 2025,
Hosted by the University of Murcia (UMU), the meeting served as an important milestone in coordinating the implementation and evaluation of sport-based activities designed for children with disabilities and their families. The two-day meeting began with a warm welcome by the host organization, followed by presentations on the progress of key project deliverables, including sport demonstration videos by CUS Palermo and the evaluation report by BRAVO. Special attention was given to the documentation and challenges surrounding the implementation of local sport training activities in partner countries. These sessions facilitated valuable exchange of practical experience and good practices in using sport as a tool for social inclusion and healthy family bonding.
Partners engaged in detailed discussions on upcoming deliverables, including the preparation of scientific articles, the structuring of multiplier sport events, and the future development of educational content. Administrative and coordination matters were also addressed to ensure smooth progress toward the final project stages.
The meeting in Murcia further reinforced the importance of promoting physical activity and healthy living among families, particularly those involving children with disabilities. As part of the Train4Family initiative, participating countries continue to develop and deliver training sessions in athletics and swimming, supported by tailored manuals and an e-learning platform. These actions contribute to empowering families and enhancing the well-being and inclusion of children through adapted sports activities.
Train4family project memorandum of understanding signed
On 12 October 2024, the CUS Palermo signed an important memorandum of understanding with the Culture, Training and Work Commission at the Sicilian Regional Assembly. Present were the Honorable Valentina Chinnici, Vice-President of the Commission, the President of the CUS Palermo Giovanni Randisi, the European Projects Unit coordinated by Rosario Genchi and the representatives of all the delegations involved to kick off the practical part of the European project activities # Train4Family. “This program will allow us to offer young people with disabilities and their families the opportunity to play sports and live a more active and inclusive life”. Together with partners from Croatia (Rijeka Disability Sports Association), Bosnia and Herzegovina (BRAVO), Bulgaria (BSDA), Turkey (KSU), Slovenia (IP@K) and Spain (Universidad de Murcia), through sports activities, nutrition education and an e-learning platform, we will promote a healthy lifestyle and ever greater social inclusion. An important moment to celebrate the beginning of this new adventure and to underline everyone’s commitment to a more inclusive future.
The Project Meeting in Sarajevo - 3rd and 4th of April 2024
The #Train4Family International project meeting in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, on 3rd and 4th April 2024, was a landmark event, significantly advancing the project's objectives. Initiated by the host's welcoming speech, the gathering quickly moved into productive presentations and discussions by Partner Associations, highlighting collaborative achievements and future strategies. Key discussions centered on the project management plan, state of the art, dissemination plans, and the development of an e-learning platform, which were interspersed with networking breaks that enriched participant connections. The second day focused on finalizing the dissemination plan, refining the manual, planning pilot sport activities, and setting future project milestones, including the scheduling of the next meeting. This intensive two-day session ended on a high note, with clear action items and a renewed commitment to the project's success.
